— PROJECT NAME
Decarbonisation through motion
— ROLE
Motion Design / Visual Storyboarding / Client Collaboration
— TIME INVESTED
180 hours
As part of an industrial client engagement, I was responsible for leading the motion design of a complex decarbonisation video — translating highly technical concepts into clear, engaging visual storytelling.
Working within BCG’s creative team, my goal was to make dense subject matter accessible, while maintaining design integrity under evolving briefs and tight timelines.
Thought Process
This wasn’t just a technical explainer — it was a communications tool meant to clarify a cutting-edge sustainability solution. I focused on balancing accuracy with approachability: how could motion simplify and support the content, without oversimplifying the science? It was about earning trust while keeping the audience visually engaged.
Strategic Approach
I helped consolidate two technical storylines into a single, cohesive animated video — using structured storytelling, clean transitions, and consistent iconography to navigate complex ideas. The storyboard evolved rapidly, so I introduced a collaborative process using live calls and Miro boards to co-create scenes with BCG consultants and clients in real-time.
Creative Thinking
I leaned on minimalist motion language and subtle visual metaphors — making abstract concepts like delocalised energy assets feel intuitive. Working within the client’s established visual tone, I injected motion into 50% of the video’s static structure, enhancing clarity while staying on-brand.
Outcomes & Impact
The final video received strong feedback from both the client and internal teams, prompting further requests and helping build advocacy for BCG’s creative capability in this space. It became a sales tool in itself — used across internal decks and as a model for future content. For me, it reinforced the value of motion as a bridge between strategy, science, and storytelling.
